With gratitude for her many years of service, the Wayne D. Kuni & Joan E. Kuni Foundation applauds the contributions of Carolyn W. Miller as she retires from the Kuni Foundation Board of Directors.
Ms. Miller, the founder and principal of Carolyn W. Miller PC, a Portland-based law firm focusing its practice primarily on estate planning, probate and trusts, has been recognized as a Best Lawyer in America from 1998-2019 and a Super Lawyer from 2006-2019, and has served in a range of leadership roles with the Foundation’s board of directors, including vice chair, secretary and president.
During her long tenure, she played an important role in the development and execution of programs that advanced cancer research and supportive housing for adults who experience intellectual and developmental disabilities.
One of Ms. Miller’s most notable contributions was her engagement in the process to develop, fund and construct Stephen’s Place, a Vancouver-based supportive housing community for adults who experience intellectual and developmental disabilities. Ms. Miller helped to source and evaluate similar housing models throughout the country in order to determine best practices in the quest for a community that provides both a home and the spark of possibility for adults with disabilities.
Ms. Miller’s volunteer activities with Oregon Health & Science University and Providence Health Foundation also helped to inform her contributions to the Kuni Foundation. Her unique perspective, contributions and expertise leave a legacy of impact on both the Kuni Foundation and the greater charitable community.
